Spring Sport Online State Rules Meetings Available

Subject: Online State Rules Interpretation Meeting

This is a notice that the 2018 Online State Rules Interpretation Meeting is now available.

You can access the meeting for your sport by following these steps:

1)     Log in to your MyOHSAA profile.

2)     Click on the “Rules Meeting” Icon in the top right corner, and select “Find a State Meeting” along the left side of the screen.

3)     Select your Sport and Meeting Type (official) and hit search. The online meeting will be available in the resulting list.

4)     Click the “View Meeting” button on the right-side of the page to begin the meeting.

Do not view the rules meeting on tablet or mobile devices, as these may or may not record attendance—we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer.

The deadline to complete the rules meeting without penalty is Wednesday, March 7 at 11:59 pm. If the rules meeting is not complete by March 7 at 11:59 pm, there will be a $50.00 late fee to view the rules meeting and receive credit. Please know that there is also a deadline to take the rules meeting with late fee, which is April 23. After April 23, the Rules Meeting will no longer be available.

Please know that we do not send completion verification emails—we recommend taking a screenshot of the final slide, if you wish, to keep for your records.

To check whether you have been credited for viewing the Online State Rules Meeting, you will need to log in to your MyOHSAA profile, click on the “Rules Meeting” icon in the top right corner, and then select “View State Meeting Attendance”. If you see a date/timestamp for your sport, then you have received credit for the meeting and fulfilled your state meeting requirement. If you do not see a date/timestamp after 7 days of viewing the meeting then you have not received credit. Please email the officiating department at officiating@ohsaa.org and we will resolve the situation.

New Baseball/Softball Online Testing Program for Postseason

Starting this season, the OHSAA is piloting a yearly online testing program. The test is totally voluntary, but taking the exam has the opportunity to provide you extra points on your composite postseason score for 2019. You will need to access the exam at the following link, http://exams.nfhs.org Your username and password is your OHSAA permit number. Only your first attempt at the exam will count towards the bonus points, so take your time. 

94-100%- 3 points

86-92%- 2 points

80-84%- 1 point

The test is available until March 16th.

Baseball Situation:  Runners on second (R2) and third (R3).  R3 breaks for home in an attempted suicide squeeze.  As the batter (B1) attempts to bunt the pitch, the catcher (F2) touches the tip of the bat, but catches the ball before tagging R3 out sliding into home.  R2 remains at second base.  What do you call, if anything?

Greetings!  Welcome to the new internet home for the Youngstown Metro Umpires Association (YMUA).  

This site replaces our former traditional web page located at yuma.org.  The web page will remain in place for now, but it will not be updated and soon will disappear.

The YMUA is the officiating organization that provides and trains umpires for high school softball and baseball contests played under the auspices of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).

The YMUA serves high schools in all of Mahoning County as well as portions of Trumbull and Columbia counties.
